Yahoo! Avatars U.K. & Ireland

This is where I'd like to be and what I'd like to look like, but I can do this with blogging...

Thing #23 Telos=The End

Wow! I'm finished and I'm so proud of myself. I learned a lot even though I may not use it much at work, but I did learn.
Not only was it fun to work with your co-workers and talk about RSS', Wikis', podcasts', etc. but now I also know what our young customers are talking about when they mention that they "blog".
It was a good learning experience and I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn something entirely out of my realm.
Hopefully, I'll go back to review and yes I'm ready for more.
I think I enjoyed the most Avatar, Youtube and flickr. Technology is great and it provides another way of expressing yourself by using your imagination and the various tools available. That's what I liked most of this learning project!
Thank you Ellen, Jim, Joyce and anyone else out there that made it happen!

Thing #22 Audiobooks

I did go into Project Gutenberg. I didn't locate a title that I wanted to download. Maybe one day I will. Onto my last "thingy"

Thing #21 Useful tools for locating podcasts

This thing was quite an experience. The 2 podcast directories Podcast.net & Podcastalley.com just wouldn't work. I found a quilting podcast and added it to my RSS feed. I did need help though. I'm not ready to claim what was the most useful here for me because I was just so exasperated with the two podcast directories and the process of adding the podcast to my RSS feed.

Thing #20 again

I just had to advertise my beautiful island!

Thing #20 youtube

Parios is one of my favorite Greek singers. Although this video is dated, the song is still beautiful.

Thing #19 Web 2.0 awards list

I perused the short list of the Web 2.0 Awards. There is so much to explore. I know that a lot of people know about Craigslist, but I find that site very helpful for anyone wanting to buy or sell just about anything.
I could spend much time on exploring the web 2.0 tools, but really can't. Maybe one day I'll go back and spend more time.

Thing # 18 Online Productivity

I created an account in Zoho Writer. I explored Google Docs and started a birthday list of family and friends. What I would eventually like to do in the future is to keep my recipes there. I had fun with this thing too. It looks like I will finish before my trip. Yeah!

Thing #17 Add an Entry into the Sandbox Wiki

This thing was fun. I created a login and added my blog to the Favorite Blogs. Then I went to the Sandbox Wiki and just played around a little. Maybe later I'll return and play some more.

Thing #16 Learn about Wikis

I found the concept of Wikis very interesting. The icon which shows email communication next to Wiki communication in one of the resources was very helpful. I can foresee having a Wiki where we can communicate our various situations which we deal with on a daily basis and our results.

Thing #15 Web 2.0, Library 2.0 & the future of libraries

In the not so distant past, we thought of the library as a community gathering center where people came to learn and visit in an inviting environment.
After reading "Librarian 2.0" the future for the library and everyone working in it will change. We will need to change direction and discover new ways to reach our customs with technology. One step in the right direction is having the staff blog and participate in the 23 Things. We still have a long way to go. We need to educate ourselves in order to better serve and educate our customers.

Thing #14 Discovering Technorati

What can I say about Technorati? It is too much technology and information for me. I did a keyword search for "Learning 2.0" and it was just so overwhelming. When I explored top favorited blog, top searches and top blogs, I didn't find much that would interest me. I guess that's unfair. I should say that nothing jumped out at me and who has the time to look through so many blogs? This thing was the least interesting one for me.

Thing # 13 Tagging and Discovering Del.icio.us

I tried accessing the Otter Group 12 min. video on Del.icio.us but was unsuccessful. These computers are so slow. I did have some help and created a Del.icio.us account and bookmarked some of my favorites. Check it out at www.del.icio.us/proros

Gregory Peck - My Favorite Actor

I've always admired Gregory Peck. A wonderful, talented actor!

Thing #12 Rollyo

I created a searchroll of my favorite travel sites. I titled it "Eureka". Give it a try.

# 11 Library Thing

Library Thing is really exciting. I think the most exciting thing so far. I want to go back to it and spend more time. Check out my catalog.

#10 Image Generators

Isn't he cute? He looks better in color. Using the "Sketch Generator" I was able to convert a photograph into a sketch drawing and then I uploaded this little fella to my blog.

#9 Merlin

I didn't like the layout of Feedster as much as Topix. Didn't spend too much time with Merlin. Will get back to her later.

A view from Chios

.

What a beautiful scene. It is taken from a house on the island of Chios, which is where the poet Homer taught to his students. There is a boulder on the island of Chios and it is called "Homer's Rock"

#8 RSS and Feeders

Yesterday I learned about "Really Simple Syndication". I know that I sound like a broken record, but I'm just amazed at what is out there. I enjoyed the one tutorial "Feed Me". I was able to create an online account with Bloglines and without realizing it at the time, I subscribed to newsfeeds to my reader. How did I do it? Don't know, but I did.

#7 Technology Rated Post

It was fun to go into flickr toys and see all of the technolgy that's out there. Kinda of overwhelming though...
Montagr was fun. Created a mosaic from photos which interested me. Wonder if I'll remember how to do that a few months down the road.
Now it's on to comment on someone's blog. Who should I pick?

#6 Flickr Mashups

Greek Mosaic
Don't you just want to visit these beautiful islands? Our first mosaic (with my buddy)

#5 - Explore Flickr

.

Hoorah! I registered with Flickr. Didn't realize it at the time, but I did! My buddy here has now helped me to blog this beautiful photo of Paros Island Greece. The Greek singer "Parios" is from this island.

#4 Register Your Blog and Track your progress

Today I registered my blog with my liaison. I did have a problem with the process of including my URL for the permanent link to my first blog posts. Donna again came to the rescue. Hope I can remember to do it tomorrow.

#3 Set up your own blog & add 1st post

This was so much fun. I didn't know what a blog was and now I've created my own. I'm so impressed. Of course I had help. Once though I viewed the other blogs, I felt that I had so much to learn. Ellen's is really amazing! Well, what can I say? This will be such an adventure.

#2 Lifelong learning

Tutorial was kinda fun although I felt I was in grade school. Didn't discover much. The 7 1/2 habits of learning were logical ones, habits which I had experienced in my lifetime.

About the Program #1

This is exciting, especially when you work with a buddy system. We'll be learning plus having fun together.

The most difficult and easiest habits

Habit 2: I would consider as one of the easiest because it puts the"ball" in my ballpark. I accept the responsibility of trying to learn new technology.

Habit 7: This would be the hardest for me. How do I use the newly acquired skills to my advantage.
